Technology Integration in the Classroom

Dear Parents,
This year i will be using technology much more in the classroom. I feel that it is very important for the students to get hands on use with computers that will relate to things that they will be using in life. It will help with a few areas of my class. The students will be more engaged in class because we have done activities that are out of the ordinary, and that sparks interest. There are a few key pieces of technology that i will be using this year.

First is music writing software. It is a complicated program for people to use. This has a couple benefits. If students are going to be music majors they will need to know how to use this program. Also if students are not going to be music majors they will be learning to how use software in a different way expanding their horizon of knowledge, and they will also be able to express more creativity in my class this way.

Another is video and music software for movie/video making. This has a few very practical uses. Many teenagers want to know how to use video technology and how to put music to it. This will give them a chance to go at music in a way they have never done before in band, and may spark some interest in other areas of music to help keep them engaged in class.
