My name is Casey Lindorfer. I am a new band director at the school this year. I attended Boise State University and received my bachelors degree in Music Education. I have played in a variety of school, community, and honor ensembles giving me through experience and knowledge of every aspect of band I will be teaching. Growing up in the Boise area I understand some of the challenges that we face this upcoming year, but I am excited to take the band to a new place musically.
There are classroom expectations that will need to be followed for the year to come. I do not allow disruptions in my class. this includes playing out of turn talking while I am speaking to the group, or actions that slow or halt the progress of rehearsals. Students will be expected to take care of their instruments so they are in working fashion through out the year. I also require people to be kind and respectful of one another, as for this will help the band develop a musically develop.
There will be times when I need parent assistance. I will not require you to make sure your child is practicing unless that becomes something that is holding the band back, but I do not expect this to happen. For marching band I will need a group of 4 or 5 parents to help roll the front ensemble out onto the field at shows, and if we go on a trip the band will need about 2 or 3 chaperons.
If anybody needs to contact me they can reach me at my email at caseylindorfer@boiseschools.org, on my work phone (208)-264-8734, or on my cell (208)-764-3788.
